At Worm Power, we see the potential to rejuvenate plant health and vitality through our potent Worm Power Liquid Extract. Not only does this create an avenue towards home and business sustainability, but it also addresses some key challenges in agriculture. Let’s delve into three fundamental ways Worm Power is driving positive change in the agricultural sphere.
Tackling the Dairy Farm Waste Dilemma
Moo-ve over waste problems! Dairy farms generate massive amounts of waste. For instance, Purdue University estimated that a mere 100 dairy cows can produce more than 6,000 cubic feet of liquid manure monthly. That’s a whopping half a million gallons annually! According to USDA, most American dairy farms rear between 1,000 and 5,000 cows, with several farms even exceeding 15,000. It’s clear that managing this tidal wave of waste quickly escalates into an environmental conundrum, as the volume far exceeds what can be used practically as fertilizer in its current form.
Nevertheless, cow manure happens to be a veritable feast for worms, which efficiently transforms it and other organic materials into a mighty soil additive. Recognizing this opportunity, Worm Power established its initial vermicompost facility in 2005 alongside Coyne Farm, a distinguished fifth-generation New York State dairy farm, to ensure a continuous supply of cow manure. This 80,000-square-foot facility, encompassing both indoor and covered areas, evolved to become one of the world’s largest environmentally-controlled vermicompost producers.
Our process involves pushing cow manure through a separator and bifurcating it into liquids and solids. We then blend the solids with corn, hay, and alfalfa silage grown on Coyne Farm to generate a balanced worm diet, ultimately yielding uniform worm castings with an ideal Carbon to Nitrogen ratio.
Paving the Way towards Lower Chemical Fertilizer Usage
Even though our product isn’t a fertilizer per se, it optimizes the absorption of macro and micronutrients by plants. This enhanced efficiency can contribute to less reliance on fertilizer. Lab tests and field trials indicate that our Worm Power Liquid Extract can make plants utilize nutrients from both organic and traditional sources more effectively compared to those not treated with Worm Power Liquid Extract. Despite being fully natural and organic, the lion’s share of Worm Power finds its use among farmers seeking to refine traditional growth methods.
Championing Organic Approaches for Homes and Businesses
